Dear ::first_name,

We've had a superb start to the year at WMS, with lots to look forward to.

Our 28th Annual Congress is already taking shape, with the summary programme now published. The team are getting ready to open registrations very soon. Our event team and local organisation committee also took part in a site visit recently, experiencing plenty of what Charleston has to offer.

Our Executive Board has been busy, along with a number of new committees formed to support our work. You can read more about the committees and their members below.

We are also looking forward to our first board meeting of the year in April where we will continue to shape the strategic direction of the WMS. To help us with this, we have created a short survey for our members. We want to make sure we shape the WMS of the future to meet and exceed your expectations. I encourage you to take a few minutes to complete this short survey.

Thank you to all our members for their ongoing support and involvement in making WMS the thriving organisation it is.

Best wishes

Volker Straub, President

Apply for a Fellowship and join us at WMS 2023

Every year the WMS awards fellowships, funded by an annual royalty from Neuromuscular Disorders by Elsevier. For the WMS 2023 Congress, WMS will support up to 100 fellowships awarded of up to £2,000 to help in-person congress attendees with their travel and accommodation costs.

We are keen to promote equitable access to in-person attendance at the annual Congress. We encourage WMS members to apply if costs associated with travel to the Congress impact their ability to attend and benefit from in-person Congress attendance.

Expanded Fellowship Categories:
  • First time WMS Congress Attendee (will be verified)
  • Early Career Researcher: Applicants should be in an early career phase, training or not yet in a definite established position. The maximum age for applicants is 40 years old (at the time of submission), indicated during abstract submission.
  • Travel fellowship for WMS members: WMS members interested in attending the annual Congress but find the registration fee and associated costs a barrier to in-person attendance.
Find out more, including how to apply, on the Congress website.
