If you were recently a member your information may still exist on our database, so you may not have to register again. You can try to renew your membership by logging in to your WMS account and click "Renew Membership".
WMS memberships are valid for the duration of 12, 24 or 36 months from the date you joined, depending on your choice of membership.
You can renew your membership all year round. Just log in as a member and follow the information on your screen to see when you need to renew and how. We will also send you a renewal reminder email.
If you have already registered for the congress and subsequently decide to become a WMS Member then we are not able to process a refund of the difference retrospectively. WMS Membership is encouraged as a benefit for all delegates not just because of the reduced congress registration fees. Your membership will now be in place for next year’s congress, and we look forward to welcoming you.
If you have recently applied for or renewed your WMS Membership but the start date is next month, you can still register for the Congress. All you need is your membership number which is mentioned on your payment receipt and your membership expiry date. All that matters is that you have an application/renewal in progress at the time of registration and that it will be current at the time of the Congress.
From the day you fill in your application/ renewal form and pay you will be able to access the online journal through your profile when you are logged in. If you join/renew before the 15th day of the month, your membership will officially start on the first day of the following month. If you join/renew on or after the 15th day of the month it will start on the first day of the next month. Example:

WMS membership is for an individual rather than for an organisation. For example, each delegate will need to be a WMS member in order to register for the Congress as a member.
We are happy for members to promote their membership, but please remember WMS memberships are for individuals rather than for an organisation. Members can promote individual memberships via social media but must ensure this is conducted within the guidelines set out in the Membership Code of Conduct.
Payment is only by debit or credit card, it is not possible to pay by invoice. Any charges by the card provider or bank are the responsibility of the member to pay. A receipt will be attached to the confirmation email you will receive once the transaction is complete.
If you want to benefit from member registration discounts for the Annual Virtual Congress, please make sure your society membership has been renewed, and that it will remain active for the duration of the Congress, before proceeding with your Congress registration. You will not be able to renew membership or apply for membership during the Congress registration process (which is managed via a separate system). Please note that membership status is checked individually for all Congress delegates.
WMS Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
The WMS is a professional scientific society that provides a respectful, harassment-free and inclusive environment for all members, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, ethnicity, race, national origin, age or religion.
All members are expected to behave with integrity and respect towards other members or participants in society activities.
The WMS is committed to informing members about the code of conduct for members. Likewise, WMS is committed to installing procedures and guidance for appropriate reporting of unacceptable behaviour of any kind.
WMS highlights the importance for members to express cultural sensitivity and respect with regards to clothing and appearance.
The present Code of Conduct is not a legal document or prescriptive in nature. It supplements, but does not affect, the application of other relevant policies, regulations, rules, and laws, including laws regulating the premises or platform in which WMS activities may take place. WMS complies with such policies and will report all inappropriate conduct accordingly.
