World Duchenne Organization and Duchenne Data Foundation are thrilled to announce that applications for the highly anticipated Duchenne Patient Academy 2023 are now open. This immersive in-person training event for Duchenne and Becker patient advocates will be held from November 30 to December 2, 2023. After three successful years of virtual Academies, this marks the return to an in-person format in Athens, Greece.
The Duchenne Patient Academy is a unique opportunity for motivated patient advocates to receive intensive training on key aspects and skills needed to make a meaningful impact in the field. Advocates with an interest in advancing research, advocating for access, and improving standards of care for Duchenne and Becker patients are encouraged to apply.
Accepted applicants will receive full coverage of food and accommodation expenses for the duration of the training, as well as reimbursement of travel expenses. Selected participants can expect a reply by the beginning of November.

Duchenne Patient Academy is an initiative of the World Duchenne Organization and receives support by the Duchenne Data Foundation. Upon the launch of the first edition in 2018, Duchenne Patient Academy has trained over 500 patient advocates from 55 countries. Over the course of multiple days, patient representatives receive training and education on how to successfully advocate for people living with dystrophinopathies.
