Introduction

I have been a member of the World Muscle Society since 1999 and I would be happy and honored to be part of the Executive Board of this Society, which best represents home valuing  its members in their interests, initiatives, human and cultural interactions in the field and in which I find so many lovely friends and colleagues. I would eventually be proud to play a proactive role in the Executive Board of the WMS, contributing with the promotion of education, scientific exchange, dissemination of scientific and clinical experiences and results in National and International context. I have contributed in the past to the organizing committee for the WMS meeting in 2007 and, if liked, maybe pleased to bring again a next WMS Congress in Italy. I am for sure convinced that the cultural context within which WMS operates that enabled our community to reach in the last years key milestones in muscle diseases will be for me a  strong commitment to hopefully achieve even more important goals in our fields.

Firstly he studied as post-DOC several issues on muscle fatigue, in collaboration with the Muscle Research Centre, University of Liverpool, exercise in normal and myopathic subjects, motorneuron output evaluation in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, subsarcolemmal excitability in myotonic syndromes and muscular dystrophies, analysis of metabolic parameters in McArdle’s disease and mitochondrial myopathies. He has been then engaged in numerous epidemiological, clinical genotype-phenotype correlation, natural history and therapeutic studies on neuromuscular disorders, in particular in muscular dystrophies, Steinert disease and other myotonic syndromes, mitochondrial myopathies, inflammatory peripheral neuropathies and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
