World Muscle Society Election 2022

We are excited to announce that there will be an election for Executive Board Members before the 2022 Annual Congress.

If you would like to be involved with shaping the future of the World Muscle Society, then now is the time to step forward.

Please read the important information below and then complete the Nomination Form via the link at the bottom of the page.



Timeline

13 June 2022 Open for nominations
31 August 2022 (midnight UTC) Deadline for nominations
7 September 2022 Voting opens
4 October 2022 (midnight UTC) Voting closes. Candidates will be informed within 24 hours if they have been successful or not.
12 October 2022 Results officially announced during the Congress Welcome - Message from the President

Who can be elected?

To be elected as an Executive Board member, candidates must:

  1. Have more than 1 year’s WMS membership history at the time of the election
  2. Have WMS membership in place at the time of the election
  3. Not be an industry member
  4. Submit their nomination by the deadline
  5. Provide a short bio, their letter/pitch/CV, optional photo, and conflict of interest declaration via the online nomination form. Candidates are asked to develop their vision/project for their role
  6. Agree to take the function of Executive Officer if requested by the President in exceptional circumstances (see Guidelines)
  7. Be registered to attend the WMS 2022 Congress in-person and be able to attend the Executive Board meeting on 11th October 12:00-17:00 (local Halifax time) if successfully elected

Sub-Committees

The WMS are keen to involve as many members in the organisation of the Society as possible. During the nomination process above you will be asked if you would be interested in getting involved with any of the following sub-committees for a 3 year term:

  • ´╗┐Website Committee
  • Sustainability Committee
  • Social Media Committee
  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee

Conflict of Interest

´╗┐Please let us know of any conflicts of interest or potentially perceived conflict of interest. You can download the declaration form to be completed HERE and upload it during the nomination process above. You will need to complete and submit this form even if you have no conflicts of interest.

How to vote

Members can vote for between 1 and 15 candidates.

Seats are awarded to the first 12 candidates who have received the largest number of votes. The last three seats are allocated to first-time candidates by the number of votes received, for first-time candidates who have not been allocated to one of the first 12 seats.

Next steps

If you would like to be considered for a position on the Executive Board then please complete the simple nomination form below. You will need to include a short bio and letter/pitch/CV and your photo, if not already uploaded to your membership profile (helpful but not mandatory). You will also be asked to add your social media links if you have them and even a website link if that is relevant to your candidacy. Please ensure you upload your completed Conflict of Interest form and have considered whether you'd also like to get involved with any of the other sub-committees.
