Professor Giovanni Nigro passed away on the 13th of October. He was 86 years old. He has been a pillar of Myology. He participated to the foundation of several Societies: European Alliance of Muscular Dystrophy Associations (EAMDA), the European Neuromuscular Centre (ENMC), Mediterranean Society of Myology (MSM), World Muscle Society (WMS), Italian Association of Myology (AIM) among several others. He invented the term “cardiomyology”, to define the connection between muscle and heart. He was the first treasurer of the WMS and served consecutively 12 years. His enormous contributions to the Society will be remembered forever.
