World Muscle Society election 2025

In 2025, the WMS will hold an election for members of its Executive Board. The Executive Board is the decision making group for the WMS. All spaces are up for election. The Executive Board has also agreed that a seat on the board should be filled by an individual who specifically represents the needs of early career myologists. The WMS considers early career researchers and clinicians as those who are still studying/training and/or within five years of their last relevant formal training, e.g., five years after being awarded their PhD or becoming specialists in the field.

To be eligible for election, you need to be a WMS member and have had an active membership since October 2024. You also need to be registered to attend WMS 2025. All candidates are self-nominated. To put your name forward, you'll need to complete a short form and supply a photograph of yourself. The form will be available from 11th June when nominations open.

As a member of the Executive Board you will:

  • Participate in quarterly Executive Board meetings (one in person, held at the annual Congress, with the remainder virtual meetings)
  • Have your say on new proposals or propose your own priorities or projects
  • Vote on important decisions
  • Attend the WMS Congresses
  • Have the opportunity to work more closely in your area of interest
  • Help represent the WMS at conferences, through your professional networks and on social media

The early career representative will be the eligible candidate with the most votes. All elected Executive Board members will meet for the first time in Vienna on Tuesday 6th October.

Conflict of Interest

When you complete your nomination, we will ask you to let us know of any conflicts of interest or potential perceived conflicts of interest. You will need to complete and submit a conflict of interest form even if you have no conflicts of interest.
