Regional Networks

During the WMS 2024 Congress, we explored Neuromuscular Disorders Around the World as one of three focused topics. This eye-opening subject enabled our speakers to share stories of their own experiences of working with patients or in research in countries where myology remains an emerging science and where access to healthcare can be limited. The engagement amongst delegates with these discussions was exciting, and the feedback on the thought-provoking conversations afterwards was inspiring. It was this dynamic discussion that motivated us to establish the WMS Regional Networks, which have been developed and supported by Rasha El Sherif and Hernán Gonorazky working within the “Myology Developments Across the World” Committee.

Enthusiasm has been high as participants unanimously agreed to establish a regular series of meetings and begin working towards regional projects focused on education and research. The growing strength of the WMS Regional Networks initiative in building worldwide bridges for neuromuscular care for each of the global regions is aimed at facilitating collaboration, learning and support across each region.
