At WMS 2024, Jordi Diaz Manera, Chair of the WMS Social Media Committee, sat down with Jorge Bevilacqua to talk about the reality of researching and treating neuromuscular disorders in Latin America.

As Jorge describes, Latin America has a combined population of 650 million people with very different access to healthcare, depending on which country they live in, where in that country they are from and the national health infrastructure. Jorge talks about the challenges of securing funding for projects, the lack of national registries and the need for research to help everyone working in the field better understand the regional genetic realities.
