We would like to take this opportunity to send you belated best wishes for all that 2021 will bring, and look forward to sharing the ongoing developments within the WMS community with you over the coming months.

New look WMS website and membership for 2021

Using feedback from existing and potential members, the WMS Executive Board set out to review the membership process, packages and society website in 2020. The review concluded that we needed to:

  • Improve access to membership for students and members from developing countries
  • Reduce costs and the Society’s carbon footprint
  • Welcome industry partners, whilst ensuring that the Society is still academically driven
  • Encourage more inclusive participation in all Society activities
  • Promote a flexible membership with applications and renewals all year round, not just in December each year

We, as a community, are conscious of the importance to support a sustainable future for our planet, therefore, we encourage all members to opt for the online version of the journal.

We also took the opportunity to give the Society website a facelift, which we hope you will agree is a big improvement.

Some interesting new features for members that will be added soon will include:

  • Forum
  • Job opportunities
  • Guidelines
  • Funding opportunities
  • Education opportunities
  • Links to partner organisations

The website is still very much a work in progress project, but please do let us know your thoughts, any feedback or ideas. We would love to hear from you.

Thank you for your support and please keep in touch.
