The WMS Programme Committee is one of the most influential committees working within the Society. It is responsible for developing the scientific programme for the annual WMS Congress.

Our Programme Committee member representatives each serve a three year term and we have three members who are coming to the end of their term, which means we need three new recruits to replace them.

Members of the Programme Committee are expected to:

  • Work collaboratively to develop the scientific programme for the WMS Congress;
  • Attend two annual meetings, a virtual meeting in December, and a face-to-face meeting in May (accommodation and meals are provided for the in person meeting, travel expenses are paid in line with the WMS travel and expense policy);
  • Suggest topics and speakers for the WMS Congress;
  • Review and score abstracts submitted for presentation at the Congress; and
  • Participate and contribute ideas and proposals for various Congress programme sessions e.g. the Congress Debate, Early Career Members session etc.

The Committee is currently chaired by Gina Ravenscroft and has 12 members, including the three WMS Executive Officers (President, Secretary and Treasurer), three additional members of the Executive Board, two members of the current Local Organising Committee and four member representatives.

Anyone interested in being selected for the Programme Committee should email [email protected] to express their interest.
