Our 29th annual international Congress is now over. The record-breaking event in Prague, Czechia, brought together a bigger audience than ever before and presented more posters than ever before.
Whether you missed the Congress entirely or want to revisit it, we have a highlights reel for each day that we were in Prague.
Day 0 – Pre-Congress Teaching Course
World-renowned and highly valued, our Pre-Congress Teaching Course brought together a faculty of expert clinicians and researchers to provide training to an audience of just 100 delegates. We keep the Pre-Congress Teaching Course small on purpose so those attending can benefit from open discussion with each other and with the faculty.
Day 1
WMS 2024 opened with a Meet the Exhibitors reception hosted by our Local Organising Committee, which was followed by the first two of our eight industry symposia. The atmosphere as delegates arrived from all over the world and caught up with old friends and people they have only met via email is one of the things that makes WMS Congresses so special. We were joined by the Prague Film Orchestra, who played hits from the movies and then enjoyed our Networking Reception with night-time views over the city.
Day Two
On day two the science started in earnest. The first of our full days, the topic for day two was Acquired Muscle Disorders. We started and ended the day with more industry symposia and hosted a Meet the Experts lunch for those in the early stages of their careers to learn from more experienced colleagues.
Day three
On day three we explored the topic of Neuromuscular Disorders Around the World. This eye-opening topic enabled our speakers to share stories of their own experiences of working with patients or in research in countries where myology remains an emerging science and where access to healthcare can be limited. We hosted our final industry symposia, a Career Development Session and our group activities before coming together again for our group activity networking reception.
Day four
Our final full day of the Congress focused on RNA in NMD. We started the day with an interesting cases discussion. Having such an extraordinary network of people in the room to discuss these cases provides unique insights and forges greater connection. In the evening, we hosted our Congress Dinner at the Municipal Hall in Prague, which was followed by swing dancing.
Day five
As we prepared to head home, there were still a lot of Congress features to get through. We started with clinical trial updates, which was followed by the Victor Dubozitz Lecture and then poster highlights. After a short break, we reconvened for late breaking news presentations and our prestigious prize giving ceremony before the Prague Local Organising Committee handed over the WMS flag to the Vienna Local Organising Committee. We hope to see you in Austria for WMS 2025 – our 30th annual Congress.
