WMS Executive Board Member Professor Francesco Muntoni has been awarded the European Paediatric Neurology Society’s (EPNS) Aicardi Award. The Aicardi Award is the highest accolade bestowed by the EPNS and recognises a highly distinguished member of the Society who has made an exemplary contribution to paediatric neurology.

To celebrate his accomplishment, he will present an award lecture at the EPNS Congress in Prague next Summer. Professor Muntoni’s lecture will be entitled Lessons learned developing novel therapies for childhood neuromuscular disorders.

He has also recently received the Ottorino Rossi Award, which is presented to a scientist who has made an important contribution to research in the field of the neurosciences, which he received in November at the Ottorino Rossi Award Conference, established by the IRCCS Mondino Foundation.

The conference highlighted recent advances, unmet needs, and future perspectives in the quest for novel therapeutic strategies, looking at key examples in the fields of paediatric and adult inherited neurological disorders.
