PhD Position: Mechanistic Understanding and Correction Strategies for LGMDD2

Public Call for Applications – Predoctoral Researcher Position in the Human Translational Genomic group (PI Prof. Rubén Artero, University of Valencia).

The PhD candidate will focus on the mechanistic understanding of the TNPO3 mutation that causes LGMDD2, as well as on the exploration of potential therapeutic strategies.

1. General Conditions

1.1. Position Title and Classification

Predoctoral Researcher
Group A, Subgroup A1.

1.2. Working Hours

35 hours per week.

1.3. Funding Terms

The financial support and employment conditions will comply with Article 21 of Law 14/2011 of 1 June on Science, Technology and Innovation, and with the regulations established in this call.

1.4. Duties and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will participate in the research activities of the project “Mechanistic Understanding and Correction Strategies for LGMDD2”. Tasks include:

  • Maintenance and experimental manipulation of LGMDD2 cell cultures.
  • Biochemical and molecular biology techniques.
  • Immunodetection techniques.
  • Bioinformatics and biostatistical analyses.
  • Experimental work with mouse models.
  • Preparation of scientific reports and manuscripts.

1.5. Purpose and Duration

The contract is intended to support the completion of a PhD thesis within the research project PID2024-156741OB-I00.
Duration: Four years.

1.6. Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

a) Hold a Bachelor’s degree in the Sciences or Health Sciences fields.
b) Be eligible for admission or in a position to enrol in a doctoral programme at the University of Valencia at the time of hiring
c) Not hold a doctoral degree.

1.7. Merits (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Proficiency in English.
  • Experience in maintenance and experimental work with cell cultures.
  • Experience in biochemical and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience in immunodetection techniques.
  • Experience in bioinformatics and biostatistics.
  • Experience with mouse experimentation.
  • Experience in writing scientific reports and research articles.
