Funded Postdoctoral position

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the group Myomatrix-related Muscle disorders supervised by Valérie Allamand, in the team directed by Gisèle Bonne.

Our laboratory is located at the Research Center in Myology within the Institute of Myology in Paris. It is located on the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital campus, in the 13th district of Paris. It offers an international environment with access to core facilities and a strong network of multidisciplinary collaborations.

Project topic: In collaboration with Marseille Medical Genetics laboratory, we will develop novel cellular models derived from hiPSCs and assess the efficacy of therapeutic strategies targeting nonsense mutations in the LAMA2 gene, encoding laminin alpha2 chain. LAMA2-related disorders are among the most common form of congenital muscular dystrophy in Europe.

Profile: You have a strong interest in muscle biology and human diseases, and you hold a PhD in cellular and/or molecular biology, with expertise in a wide range of techniques such as cell culture, transfection, RT-qPCR, western blotting, immunolabeling, confocal microscopy etc… Experience with hiPSC is a plus but not mandatory. You are enthusiastic and dynamic, you work with rigor and creativity, and, while you are autonomous, you are also a team player with good interpersonal communication skills.

You have good oral and written communication skills in English. You are willing to spend some time in our collaborator’s laboratory in Marseille to implement cellular models.

Position: The postdoctoral position is fully funded for one year by the Association Française contre les Myopathies (AFM-Téléthon), with the possibility to be extended for an additional two years. Starting date ideally between November 2022 and January 2023. Salary and terms of employment will be according to the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm), depending on qualifications.
