28th Congress of the Medical-Scientific Advisory Board of the German Society for Muscular Diseases (DGM) e. V.

Dear colleagues

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the congress of the Medical-Scientific Advisory Board of the German Society for Muscular Diseases (DGM) in Heidelberg/Mannheim in January 2027 under the motto “Knowledge moves.”

Neuromuscular medicine is undergoing a period of profound development. Advances in basic research, innovative therapeutic approaches, and new diagnostic possibilities are changing our understanding of neuromuscular diseases as well as everyday clinical practice. At the same time, digitalisation is becoming increasingly important—whether in research, clinical decision-making, cross-sector care, or networking among the stakeholders involved.

This congress aims to provide a space for exchange, reflection, and joint further thinking. It brings together different perspectives: research, clinical practice, and care, various neuromuscular disease entities, as well as methodological and technological approaches. The focus is not only on new findings, but also on the question of how we can translate these into practice in a responsible, patient-centered, and sustainable manner.

The congress will also honour outstanding scientific achievements. The Duchenne-Erb International Prize, the Duchenne-Erb National Prize, the Felix Jerusalem Prize, the Junior Prize, and the Myositis Young Researcher Prize will be awarded.

The Rhine-Neckar region of Heidelberg/Mannheim, as a vibrant centre of science and innovation, provides a fitting setting for this dialogue. We cordially invite you to actively participate in shaping the congress—through your contributions, your experiences, and the discussions on the sidelines of the sessions, which are often just as valuable as the formal programme.

We would like to thank all the speakers, the Medical-Scientific Advisory Board of the DGM, and the many participants whose commitment has made this congress possible. We wish you all stimulating discussions, new ideas, and an enriching time together in Heidelberg/Mannheim.

With warm regards

The Congress Presidents

Dr. Hans-Werner Rausch
