Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin
Berlin, Germany

Introduction

My name is Werner Stenzel; I am a Neuropathologist and Myopathologist working in Berlin at the Charité Hospital. I am board-certified in both clinical Neurology and Neuropathology. At present, I am a member of the programme committee and the executive committee of the WMS. These two tasks are very important for me personally and I truely devote my time and energy into fulfilling them with my best intentions. I am trying to do so on the scientific level, taking into account social, global and other important aspects as well. I would like to continue shaping and developing the spirit and the visions for the future of the society and respecting the ideas and achievements of Victor Dubuowitz and others having founded and driven the society for a long time and having warmly welcomed me some 10 years ago as a new member.

In 2014, I have co-hosted the WMS meeting in Berlin with Dr. Arpad von Moers and Professor Hans-Hilmar Goebel.

My primary research interest is in juvenile and adult forms of muscle inflammation, deciphering the pathophysiological/immunological causes related to those disorders.

Several visiting doctors have successfully performed research projects in my laboratory and others gained diagnostic training and expertise.
